CORROSION CONTROL
Corrosion is caused by a mixture of chemicals, water and Oxygen. It is the degradation of Carbon in steel. It can cause major problems with assets and especially if steel is used as reinforcing in concrete.
Virtually all structures make use of steel for strengthening.
SOLUTIONS
- Preparation of steel is of paramount importance
- If corrosion protection is undertaken in Spalled areas, the corroded areas must be chipped back until corrosion is not evident
- Various coatings and systems are available, depending on the environment
- Areas with food are critical in upkeep and maintenance
- We use Grit (slag or glass) blasting to prepare steel for coatings
- We also use Gunite machines to speed up the process of applying coatings, especially cementitious coatings
